Eifel Tower

Well, as you can see the weather was not all good, but what a great time we had in Paris. Here is the Eifel Tower, our first monument to visit. It was built in 1889 for the Universal Exhibition and was meant to be temporary.

If you go right to the top, and of course we did, you will be 274m (899 ft) from the ground. The platform at the top can hold 800 people, though having been there I think it would be very crowded if 800 people were up there. Its probably a good thing that we went in the winter with fewer tourists. This shot is of the Sienne looking West....

.... and looking East.

I think this is the Dome Church. I'm not really into churches but this one was quite large in the landscape.

Can you spot the Arch De Triumph in this shot? (just left of centre)

And this is the Place De Trocadero which is the home of many many Museums, most of which were closed for renovation when we went. I guess there are both advantages and disadvantages to travelling in the winter.
