Carbisdale Castle is on the south bank of the Kyle of Sutherland. It was built between 1906 and 1917 for the Dowager Duchess of Sutherland. It is currently run as a Youth Hostel as it was given to the Scottish Youth Hostel Association in 1945.

There's a collection of italian marble statues and paintings from the 17th century. It's the most ornate Youth Hostel in the world.
There is a lovely walk from Carbisdale Castle past farmland... |
...through a forrested area... |
... and along a beautiful stream. See my "Walks" page. |
