Kilcoy Castle

Kilcoy Castle is situated about eight miles from Inverness

at the western end of the Black Isle.

The property was acquired in 1618 by Alexander MacKenzie the fourth son of the eleventh MacKenzie laird of Kintail.

The tower was probably built soon after this, but the ornate fireplace lintel bears the date 1679.

The present owners of Kilcoy Castle, Mr and Mrs Nick McAndrew, have made some changes in the content and lay-out of the grounds.

Like the Robinsons before them, they too open the gardens periodically to the public.
