On the morning of my sixth day<\/strong> in the Faroe Islands I decide to hike over to one of the oldest villages of the Islands, Lamba. Home to myths of water trolls that guard the mighty fjord, I excitedly get going, as the morning air is magical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Clouds hug far off misty mountain tops<\/strong> as I venture across a pristine high valley. I have no one else out here my entire time along the trail. I do encounter my first aggressive sheep, but we play a game of chicken that I win, and I continue onward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a steep decline down into Lamba itself<\/strong>, but I take my time and make it without incident. I find a babbling creek and have some breakfast on it’s banks, all under a horses watchful eye. No trolls to be found, and so after a bite and a bit of a rest, I head back up and over the mountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The way back was interesting<\/strong>, as a helicopter suddenly appears, breaking up the serenity of the morning. All manner of animals were scurrying about from the loud noise coming from the whir of the helicopter’s motor. It appeared to be transporting large fishing crates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

I watch the work for a bit, but then the helicopter disappears and it is just myself along the trail. I make it back to the starting point in good time, and see I have the whole afternoon for another adventure if I so choose……<\/p>\n\n\n\n
