My afternoon was completely open<\/strong>, no plans at all. A light rain was falling as I sat in my car, waiting out the weather and trying to find something to do on my phone. I settle on driving around the bay in front of me to another small village called Elduv\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

I eventually find the trailhead<\/strong>, and get going quickly as the weather is becoming increasingly unpredictable. The swirling of clouds mixing in with intermittent rays of sunshine lighting up the valleys and mountain sides as I go, inspiring me onward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I come to the edge of the island<\/strong>, and find that the trail carves precariously along the steep mountainside. Stories of people slipping down off the trail into the ocean warn us to go slowly. The blue ocean below mesmorizes, the waves crashing far below soothe me as I slowly carry on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheep dropping akin to landmines<\/strong> can be detrimental to those hiking this trail, as shit is slippery. I side step and finally see the village of Oyndarfj\u00f8r\u00f0ur in the distance. One last gate t ogo through and I’ll reach the halfway point. However, a large sheep is scratching itself in a furious manner on the other side of the gate, making it impossible for me to pass. I wait and coach the animal to move, but to no avail….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I turn around and start heading back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A storm out in the ocean<\/strong> before me creates a wondrous rainbow that is before me my entire journey back along the coast. A good luck sign if ever I have had one, and so I make it back along the coastal edge without incident, even though the rain was falling harder than before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This trail was short but challenging<\/strong>, with views I had yet to experience here in the Faroe Islands. As I leave the coast and head inland back to the trailhead, the rains leave and the sun shows itself again, lighting up the entire valley in an afternoon glow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
