Today instead of just finding a hiking trail<\/strong>, I decided to mix things up and try an Faroe Islands tour. It was very last minute (two nights before actually) but I settled on checking out the Drangarnir Sea Arch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

The day was nothing but blue skies<\/strong>, no wind, and perfect temperatures as I make my way through the small village to the boat dock. Even our boat guides were remarking about the spectacular weather….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We get into the boat, all six us, and soon we are gliding on the smooth water out to the arch. It was only a ten minute ride if that, and before I know it we are in the shadow of the mighty sea arch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour then took me on an unexpected journey<\/strong>. We are dropped off on the adjacent land mass from the sea arch, and are told we have one and a half hours to explore on our own, and that the boat will come back to get us. Before I know it, all six of us are left to our own devices. I immediately start climbing to the highest point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I climb and explore every inch<\/strong>, going as far as one is allowed to go, precariously coming to cliff edges that drop hundreds of feet to the ocean below, then running with the sheep that are grazing on the green grasses. I feel so alive, spotting schools of fish in the turquoise waters, watching flocks of birds dart in and out of the cliffside caves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If one is looking<\/strong> to see something that can only be accessed by boat, but with complete freedom to explore without a guide, I recommend touring the Drangarnir Sea Arch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
