It’s Sunday afternoon<\/strong> as I make my way to downtown Torshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. I’ve been staying in a lovely hotel above the city, and walked down to the waterfront once before to get a bite to eat, but on my final day here I wanted to get a better feel of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

I weave in and out of small<\/strong>, cobblestone alleyways lined with grass roof European architect style houses, many of which have been here for generations. I find a place called Katrina Christiansen, an amazing home refurished into a delightfully charming restaurant. It serves vegan food every day except Sunday, and then it only serves a traditional Faroese brunch, complete with lamb, tasty potatoes and a larger lager named after me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fully stuffed with lamb and beer<\/strong>, I decide to take a final evening stroll in the hills above the city. I soak in the views one last time, the cool air, the silence of this isolated place. I love every place I’ve been able to travel to, but some places are just so unique, vibrant and special that they truly captivate my senses and leave a lasting impression on me. The Faroes Islands certainly is one of those places. A vortex of energy and peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I sleep well,<\/strong> as tomorrow I hop back onto the Smyril Line Ferry to get back to Iceland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
