In the year of 2013<\/strong> I flew to Phoenix to see Eddie Vedder. Before the concert I took a drive into the Sonoran desert without really knowing where I was going. This was my first time exploring the Fish Creek area, but I had only dipped my toe into all the spectacle and wonder this area has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon after I had moved to Arizona<\/strong>, the Fish Creek road had been washed out by some rainstorms, and so the road was closed to all traffic. Then Covid came. It took many years, but finally the Fish Creek road was restored so that those adventurous souls with the right vehicle could once again explore this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took full advantage<\/strong> of a beautiful Sunday morning and went back to Fish Creek along the Apache Trail. The wild desert out here is really something else. I find picturesque lakes, epic canyons, and an old cowboy bar that claims to have the best breakfast in the State (note to self to return and try).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I practice my drone skills<\/strong>, dream of renting a pontoon boat and doing some fishing, as well as check out some hikes that I might try in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I see now why locals choose Fish Creek<\/strong> as their place to go for a “staycation” as well as a spot for camping, jeeping, fishing, and just enjoying nature in our beautiful desert oasis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
