When HC thinks<\/strong> about how long it takes for a Joshua Tree to reach its maximum growth potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long<\/strong> everything in the high desert waits patiently for rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watching the stars <\/strong>glide across a night sky as the earth makes another rotation around the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As he sits <\/strong>and just watches the light start in the East and end in the West, shadows slowly dancing across the sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lizard watches<\/strong> him with such animal curiosity. A bird sings above to no one, or maybe just to me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

HC<\/strong> looks at a decorative vase filled with dead branches, and makes out images in the spaces inbetween.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Light<\/strong> that soothes the pain within as it glimmers off a reflective window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walking in the sand<\/strong>, letting the cool desert air numb his toes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time to think<\/strong> about his own mortality, and how it wouldn’t be so bad to have it end out here, where he can become one with the desert that he has come to love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
