Ethiopia was so much cleaner than Kenya, and the landscape was mountainous.<\/p>\n<p>Still, one must act with a certain amount of caution when in a new country for the first time. We decided to get our feet wet by going to a couple of museums, one that housed &#8220;Lucy&#8221;, and the other on the stunning campus of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aau.edu.et\/\">University of Addis Ababa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mywalkabout.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/14b87-dsc00447.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mywalkabout.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/14b87-dsc00447.jpg?resize=640%2C474&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" height=\"474\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>A culture rich with history was to be found. Tracing the origins of man to the oldest found skeleton of Lucy, learning of Ethiopia&#8217;s relative independence in development of government, art and music was fascinating.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mywalkabout.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/76113-dsc00458.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mywalkabout.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/76113-dsc00458.jpg?resize=640%2C428&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" height=\"428\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Seeing a country that has three predominant religions; Muslim, Christian Orthodox, and Ethiopian Judaism, all with influence but no conflict within its people is a lesson to be learned by the rest of the world.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mywalkabout.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/26e78-dsc00484.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mywalkabout.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/26e78-dsc00484.jpg?resize=640%2C452&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" height=\"452\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Ethiopia&#8217;s musical instruments go almost as far back as Lucy itself. As you learn about them and the tribes which developed them, the museum plays the hypnotic sounds.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mywalkabout.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/e55ae-dsc00511.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mywalkabout.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/e55ae-dsc00511.jpg?resize=640%2C492&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" height=\"492\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>On the campus grounds, they have the actual rooms of former great Kings of the past.
