Today I went to a place called Sitting Bull Falls. It is a natural oasis in the southwestern desert. Underground springs find their way to the surface of the earth, then cascade down the rock face to create what is called a Riparian Area. The green that you see in the pictures is called Tufa, and takes 10,000 plus years to have created what you see. Scientists estimate that in one million years this whole entire area will be one big Tufa.<\/p>\n

Obviously I arrived safe and sound in Carlsbad today. I luv the southwest, there is such interesting and beautiful plants and open space in this part of the country.<\/p>\n
