After a successful day out along the Baja<\/strong> in Tijuana, I enjoy a snifter of Tequila and a restful night in town. I wake up early the next day to cross the border back into San Diego, find a Starbucks to get my morning moving in the right direction, then head out to La Jolla<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I walk along the coastal boardwalk<\/strong>, finding seal beach and La Jolla cove. If memory serves me correctly (which it usually doesn’t) I was last here in 2010, kayaking the caves of the cove and floating over whale sharks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

This time around is more<\/strong> of a typical Sunday, just enjoying the day watching artists paint the scene around them and being fascinated by the seals at play in the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The animals are body surfing<\/strong> in the high tide, struggling to climb onto rocks to escape the relentless beating of the Pacific Ocean, and just laying on the warm sand taking in the sun’s rays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

I open my book and continue to read A Catcher in the Rye. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A nice enough woman sees what I’m reading and strikes up a conversation with me, then asks if she can take my picture with the book. I can barely relate to other people anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I oblige, laughing at the irony of the situation. Holden Caulfield is turning over in his grave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least the seals ask nothing of me as they play in the waves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s another perfect day for banana fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
