Where to begin with this story….it all started back in the summer of 2018. Never Ending Footsteps<\/a> is a travel blogger that I have been following for years. Lauren writes about how she and her boyfriend planned on walking Hadrians Wall<\/a>, but she injured herself after only a couple days on the trail and had to quit her journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

While reading this, a profound sensation washed over me. I was pulled into the fantastic idea of walking across the United Kingdom, following this route I had previously never heard of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am not some athlete trying to prove something to anyone. In fact I had serious doubts that I could accomplish such a feat. But I wanted to try. So I started working out routinely, and did some research online to figure out just how I would be able to do Hadrians Wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found a company that would book my accommodations, a decently priced flight across the pond, and next thing I knew the trip was booked. I had a year to prepare myself physically and mentally for my solo, self guided walking journey from the East Coast to the West Coast of the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What had I gotten myself into?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few months later I fractured my elbow. It was a major setback in my plans for this journey. My exercise routine came to halt as my pain was unbearable. I could not even fully extend my left arm. I had serious doubts that I could continue with my dream of walking Hadrians Wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet the voice in my head wouldnt give up on this dream. So although I was not feeling fully prepared, I board the plane to Edinburgh in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I arrive uneventfully, and use my one day here to acclimate to the accents and culture of the UK while trying to subside my nervousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Would I get lost? injured? attacked?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of those questions will be answered eventually as I share my Hadrians Wall journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
