Cedar waves goodbye to his Easter balloon and “Hi” to his Aunt trud’s //www.youtube.com/get_player
At the end of the Easter day, the family is at the Centerville Cemetery, when Syd wanted to go running, with Grandma following, and Cedar not about to be left behind…
too cool:-)
Janae would having been seen running as well, if it weren’t for such stylish footwear (she’ll appreciate the mad foot props) Check out the kid’s easter baskets (each with their name sketched on the outside. When i was a kid, i was happy with disposable plastic baskets… (or Eggs for that matter)

New Art project

So i bought these picture frames that i thought were cool, but really didn’t have a plan as far as what to do with them. Wanting to be somewhat artistic and have a sense of my own style, i discovered what i call ‘focal point B and W’. (I pretty much stole the title from a Picassa program, don’t sue me.)

I love Black and White pic’s, but this new idea takes a focal part of the pic and let’s you keep it in it’s original color. You can minimize/maximize your coverage area to give you your desired affect.

here are the end results (with my nice soothing Green paint job behind)

say la vie!

First run of the morning. Awesome!

**This weekend most likely was the last time I’ll be skiing for the year (sniffle) but it was a spectacular day to end the season! Trace of new powder, Blue sky and sun, and an excellent playlist of my new favorite bands, Black Mountain and The Perishers (I finally figured out how to use a friggin hyperlink!)

Heading up Supreme next to a nice ole’ English chap, whom I couldn’t understand a bloody thing coming out of his mouth….

My sweet new T showing off the quintessential songwriter. All praise Dylan.

So long readers til next season.

Kinder Yoga

So Jared tells me that Syd does Yoga (either at the gym or at school, can’t remember which). I’m not sure if this is a fib or not, so I ask Syd to show me some of her yoga moves…

Jared asks Syd to show me the ‘downward facing Dog’ Yoga move. i’ve no idea if that’s a yoga position, but pretty impressive no matter…

Sydney calls this particularly challenging Yoga move “Rag Doll”
* Does no one else find it bizarre that Kids are doing Yoga (bizarre in a good way)?

Happy Birthday Jared!

I think i might have to stop blogging everyone’s B-day’s, as we are all just gettin’ older…but i didn’t want jared to feel left out! 36 years old (looks 20 but probably feels 50-thanks Syd and Cedar!) Mom always makes us our favorite dinner for the Sunday celebration of each person’s B-day, so Steak and crab legs it was (so delicious) Emily made an awesome cake (it went so fast that I didn’t get time to take a picture), and Jared made out with some sweet flip-flops (at least i think so since i picked them out) and a good ole gift certificate to the Golf shop. Pic’s of the party have been posted by Big A on the family main page.

Facebook

Ok. So it’s Friday and i’m still going out of my freakin mind with boredom here at work, so i’d thought I’d dig a little deeper into the phenom that ‘Facebook’ is becoming. After playing around on it most of this afternoon, I sent invites to the vast network of friends i currently have :
Jackie( CJ’s wife as i couldn’t find him on there…i like his wife better anyway)
Janae (Darin’s wife….i like his wife better as well)
Mom
Mark Maines
Most likely some of Aaron’s friends who have no idea who i am (Hee!!!)

I’m letting ya’ll know this because it will most likely come across as ‘Willy Thomas’, as i just changed my Facebook name to my real name about 14 minutes ago.

P.S. i think that most of the facebook games, quizzes, etc…are retarded so don’t get offended if i don’t participate, but i love to see pic’s of what people are doing, or plan on doing, or wish they were doing….

The Rolling Stones

Advertisements

So i’m just sitting here at work being bored out of my mind. The weather is too nice to be indoors, and I am not motivated at all to do anything productive, so i thought i would share my thoughts about what is currently playing on my IPOD. I just finished listening to Goat heads soup, my second favourite (the British version seemed appropiate) Rolling Stones album (The 1st being Exile on Main Street, which is one of my top five quintessential albums of all time!)

This album is good on many levels, but most notably for it’s more mellow, low key sound. It’s not as blusey as Exile, and no where near as Rock n Roll as some of their more infamous tunes. it is a great way to kill an hour while trying to look busy at my computer as people walk by….

Racquetball and Rants

Advertisements

So this weekend I’ve been stuck in the house working from home on a project, so I wanted to take few minutes to blog about last weekend. The family decided to go to the new South Davis Rec center to play some Racquetball. Haven’t played in quite a while, but it was a blast. The kids went swimming with Grandma and Grandpa, while we played each other. i was able to beat both Aaron and Darin, and jared and I split our games (Which was sweet since he works out every day and is starting to look like Hulk…)

I was also able to ski last Sunday. it was a picture perfect day of blue sky and Sunshine. The only downside was i decided to wax and edge my own ski’s, and they were a little slicker than I anticipated. I did the split’s on the slopes a couple of times before i got used to them, but no falls.

My rant would be that blogger seems to have changed their format so that i can no longer add comments on each pic as they don’t show up under the ‘edit posts’ as pic’s anymore. i guess in the future i’ll have to add one pic at a time, which blows. I also want to rant, but in a good way, about the new season of BB9. The twist this year is the best! I’m tired of watching strategy and just want to watch people completely meltdown and have psychotic breaks on national TV. It is such a better social experiment, and isn’t that what we want to see anyway? Also, i just discovered that you do not need to pay for the live feeds, you can just search for the best clips on YouTube. i can’t believe i’ve never done this before, it adds a whole new dimension of crazy to the game. Be forwarned though, they are completely unedited. With the wind today i won’t be skiing, but I think that I’m ready to start golf and mountain biking anyway. Bring on spring….

Movie Review – There Will Be Blood

Advertisements

This is Paul Thomas Anderson’s new movie. He is the director of such movies as Magnolia and Boogie Nights (two great movies). This movie also stars Daniel Day Lewis ( My Left Foot, Last of the Mochicans, Gangs of New York) and is based upon the novel ‘Oil!’ by Upton Sinclair.

Ok, suffice it to say I found this movie to be a fascinating characterization study of greed and faith. Daniel Day Lewis’s character, Daniel plainview, is a early 20th century self proclaimed ‘oilman’. He is driven by greed and wealth, and the way he uses his personality to get what he wants draws you into the movie and doesn’t let go. His character tackles the God-fearing people of the small town whose land he needs to own so that he can drill for the oil he wants.

This movie is really about the characters. The cinematography is awesome, but little action (no car chases, aliens, or monsters, except for Plainview). It’s rated R for violence, which i thought was pretty minimal until the very end. ( and still it’s not that bad, but i am desensitized to that kind of stuff)

So if you like Paul Thomas Anderson’s work or Daniel Day Lewis, definitely see this movie. If not, or you aren’t familiar with their previous works, you might not enjoy this movie (i.e. Don’t blame me if you don’t like it)

P.S. Two punk kids walked out of the movie, thinking it was a boring western by the comments they made when they left. But everyone as i was leaving said it was one of the best movies they had seen in quite awhile. I concur with the latter….

another great day of skiing!

Saturday was the first time in a while that SLC has had a break in the weather with no snowstorms, so i thought it would be a perfect day of sunshine up in the mountains. The weather people don’t have a clue as it was cloudy and windy at the peaks, but the snow conditions were ideal, so all in all in was another good ski day. I was able to brave some more runs that I’ve previously been a little trepid about doing, improving my skill with each trip (I think). My endurance is getting better as well, although this trip was a first for me as I was getting on the Supreme lift and the chair came upon me a little quicker than I anticipated and my poles went flying into the air! I was able to capture one pole between my ski’s (which took quite a bit on concentration with the girl next to me screaming, wt!) and the dude’s on the chair behind me were able to recover my other pole and carried it up for me. First time for everything, eh? after that I realized it was time to go before i really hurt myself.
Excellent playlist of Jack Johnson’s new CD ‘Sleep thru the Static’ and Sheryl Crow’s new CD ‘ Detours’. Both are awesome and I recommend them to everyone. later Gators…
