I hadn’t seen Jane since 2009, although I had been sending money for her schooling all this time. I was relying on faith and trusting her schoolmaster to do the right thing. In 2012 my Kenyan father Isaac found out that the money wasn’t being used appropriately for Jane, and he took her out of the situation she was in and moved her up country to a safer and better school. I was forever grateful. Last month we were reunited.
She let me know that everything is going well for her, studies are good and she still wants to be a lawyer. I’m honored to be a small part of her success.
Joseph was a young boy also attending Unity Centre that I met in 2011. Funny and ambitious, we immediately connected. We also have the same funny ears and are blessed with a small stature. After initially helping him with school fee’s back then, I hadn’t seen him and had the same worries about the money not going where it needed to. Isaac came to the rescue again, and on my last day in Kayole, Isaac surprised me with my boy.
I was relieved to find out that the money has been going towards his education, and that he is doing ” very OK!!” ( his words). Still dreaming of being a judge.
Taking on the sponsorship of a child is a responsibility I do not take lightly, and am grateful to have good people such as Isaac to help ensure things are being done correctly.
