Upon leaving Fern Canyon, the inexplicable pull to stay in the Redwoods takes the lone hiker to the Friendship trail. Eight miles of magical bliss amongst friendly trees, smoky fog and otherworldly landscapes.
The light that occasionally shines down through the tree tops is a beacon of hope to his soul, and he follows it blindly the deeper he goes into the forest.
So small he feels here, like a hobbit quietly searching for mushrooms, trying not to disturb the larger forces that may be lurking overhead. The forest contains both good and evil, and he knows that his fortune may just as easily side with one side as the other.
It’s his choice alone as to which way he’ll go.
He embraces the smoky fog like a warm blanket, let it smother him if that is the will of the forest. One foot in front of the other, he carries on….
