So in hoping to not only see the infamous sites here in the Eternal City, but also to view some of it’s secrets as well, I found the following….maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never heard of the Galleria Borghese before this trip, but the artwork I saw today forever will stay with me….
Pictures are not allowed of this hallowed place, but it contains Baroque sculptures from as early as the 15th century. Stunning pieces. Massive ceiling art framed in every room, most at least 20 by 20 feet, if not larger. Some of the most moving artwork I ever laid eyes upon.
The Gallery is located in Borghese Park, which for those familiar with Central Park in NYC, I would say it is comparable. Not only in size, but in the wonderous sites surrounding it.
The museum only allows visitors to stay a maximum of two hours, which left the rest of a gorgeous sunday afternoon to wander aimlessly and find such marvels…
With this picturesque gentle gnome fountain being my favourite. What more adventures will this vagabond stumble across?
