It’s been a whirlwind of adventures, pinnacling to this moment. I climb into the van while it’s still dark outside, and off we go to [Teotihuacan](https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/414). ![](https://i0.wp.com/mywalkabout.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/HipstamaticPhoto- 544105989.378402.jpg?resize=640%2C480&ssl=1) I arrive just as the sun is slowly starting to rise. I’m offered a cup of coffee, and as I take my first sip and look up into the sky, I see the first balloon slowly rising and crossing overhead. **A smile adorns my face** and honestly it never leaves. I’ve always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon, and today I get to live out that dream. ![](https://i0.wp.com/mywalkabout.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/HipstamaticPhoto- 544106415.271137.jpg?resize=640%2C480&ssl=1) I watch in silent splendor as other balloons are being prepped and filled. It is truly awe inspiring. **The heat emanating from the flame warms me**, even though I’m at a safe distance. The balloon slowly fills, just like one learned in chemistry class, as the heat expands. Soon, our basket is ready and we climb in. After a quick safety tutorial, we are ready to depart.
