After a couple of days living a beach bum’s life on the sandy white shores around Gulf Shores, I thought I would explore more of the area. Bon Secour was only about 15-20 minutes away, so I take a quick drive to the wildlife refuge.

In the month of December, I wasn’t too worried about snakes or alligators, but one can never be too cautious when exploring a new part of the country. My eyes were constanting surveying the area as I walked, but all I saw were birds and gorgeous swampland.

The refuge trail took me straight out to the Gulf of Mexico. From here I went walking along the beach for miles, first in one direction, then back the other way. It was perfect solitude, only sandhill cranes and the occasional couple walking. I was able to fully play around with my new drone without distraction or the worry of disturbing anyone around with the slight hum of the drones motor.
