I’ve always been into sports. Not a fanatic, but if a football, basketball or baseball game was on the TV, I’d watch. College or Pro, it didn’t matter to me. I’d finish my homework in time to watch Monday Night Football, where I fell in love with the Buffalo Bills in the 1980’s, and then the Cowboys and 49’ers. University of Utah college football games were every weekend from 2008-2015. Baseball on Thursday nights and weekend day games. Utah Jazz games with the family every season.
I loved the competition of it all. So when I moved to Arizona in 2016, going to the Arizona Diamondbacks was a no brainer. I finally lived in a town with a Major League Baseball team. What I never expected but always hoped for was a post season run…..and then the 2023 season happened.

The National League division series against our formidable rivals, the LA Dodgers. After we won the 1st two games against the Dodgers, I quickly got a ticket for game 3. The atmosphere was incredible, with chills running up my spine like in the final scene of the movie, The Natural. We won, and were moving on against the Philly’s in the NLCS!

The Phillies were tough, and things weren’t looking good, but with our beloved Diamondbacks coming back home for a couple games, I decided to our ask boss if the company would “sponsor” some tickets, and what do you know, we got four so myself and three co-workers/friends got to go. It was a nailer biter, but being there as we watched the final three pitches to get out number three and a win was amazing! I could feel our entire City/State coming together as one big family, all united together in hope….and we ended up winning that series too!
I couldn’t believe it, the D’backs were in the World Series!

My company once again sponsored tickets for many of us to go to game number 3 of the World Series. Dreams were coming true! Being there with my friends was an experience I’ll never forget, even though the Texas Rangers beat us.

I coughed up my own money to go to game four by myself. It was by far the most brutal loss I’ve witnessed, but this whole post season run was magical. I love this team, this town, and this game.
Let’s Go D’Backs!
