It’s a cold and grey morning in the world, the kind of day where winter is swirling in the clouds above, waiting to descend upon the earth. Watching the weather through the window, running fingers over the picture again, reminiscing about the faces within.

Do you remember the scene in the movie “Stand by Me” with the Richard Dreyfuss character sitting in the old pickup with the newspaper? The people in the photograph have the same effect, bringing to mind the best of times, tears of joy, and moments so cherished they can not be put to words.

Photographs are my memories, without them the past escapes me, like a ship heading into the fog. When one comes my way after that time has come and gone, my ship makes it back to harbor, if only for a little while.

Wench, bring my ale, what say you?
