Fish On! 3rd time in July

For the 3rd weekend in a row, we are on the lake again to cast our poles and try our hand at trout fishing Strawberry Lake. This time around we have the girls with us, and so they party at the front of the boat ,while the guys fish in the back. I’m in my designated “fish wrangler and cooler” spot. I decide this time to only fish using one pole instead of two, as we have a slight occasional wind and a couple lines already got tangled in a gnarly mess, and I would rather not spend the day re-tying lines, bobbers, and hooks.

The first hour was a bit slow, but we killed it over the next 2 and a 1/2 hours, bringing is some nice beauties and we catch our limit of 20 trout. The ladies were nice enough to make a lovely charcuterie board for snacking, but I abstained as my hands were covered in fish guts and scales, and I smelled like an angry bear.

When we get back to the Fruitland cabin, I get a fillet knife and try to fillet the trout we had caught. I love learning a new skill, but definitely need some more practice. My fillets were thin to say the least, but I did pan fry them up for a great dinner a couple of days later.
