HC finds a parking lot with a smattering of cars, even though it was still pretty early in the morning. It was his first stop after entering Capital Reef National Park. Time to hike the Hickman Bridge trail.

Following the Fremont river initially with towering red rock cliffs above, the trail soon opens up as it winds quickly in elevation. Soon HC is on top of the cliffs and is heading towards the natural formation. The sun starts to break through the clouds as he comes to an outcropped ledge with a fantastic view of the canyon below.
He comes to a split in the trail, with two ways to Hickman Bridge itself. As he comes to the bridge, passing beneath it, HC is once again smitten with the power of wind and water that has formed the landscape out here.

The hike itself was relatively short, less that three miles roundtrip. A good first hike for himself.

Next up is some lunch, then exploring the Burr trail….
