The month of June was here, although it felt like more time had passed than just a few months. Nothing like quarantine to mess with one’s sense of time and space. The restriction had been lifted for us to be able to safely leave our State, and I take full advantage with a road trip to the California mountains.

Idyllwild is a little mountain community above Palm Springs where one climbs out of the desert and into the pine trees and cooler summer temps. The perfect place to escape the stresses of Covid while being able to maintain Social Distancing.

I’m not going to lie, most of this weekend was spent hanging out on the porch, watching the sun move from East to West, with the occasional Blue Jay or Squirrel stopping by to say hello. I did find a bike trail to ride so I didn’t become a complete slug, but mostly this trip was about trying to get back to a feeling of normalcy in the world.

I try a little morning hike just to get my body moving, but over all the impending feeling of the ‘Rona kept me from truly exploring the area. I want to be a good global citizen and do my part to try and stop the spread of this freaking virus.

I will continue this balancing act throughout the summer and see if I can come to some sort of balance between travel and the safety and well being of myself and those around me.

Wench, bring my ale, what say you?
