Last week at the movies vol. 2

Another week has passed, and it was an interesting one at my local movie theater. Let’s get to it :

First up was a classic movie from 1982, Star Trek Two : The Wrath of Khan.

I first saw this movie back when it first released. Me and my brother took my Dad for his birthday. He liked Star Trek. I liked having this memory as I watched it again. It also had the original Star Trek the TV show episode that first brought us Khan, and it was cool to see the TV show and the the movie back to back. Cheesy? sure. Fun and nostalgic, absolutely.

The next day was the highly buzzed South Korean movie called Hope. I knew nothing of this movie other than people saying it was fun, crazy, and confusing. I couldn’t agree more. I’m still thinking about this movie.

Then came the movie Runner, not to be confused with the Gal Gadot slop called The Runner, although I think it could be fair to say that both movies deserve the slop title. I love Owen Wilson and his presence and comedy in the trailers gave me hope that I would have a good time, but alas is was not the case.

The Uprising was a movie I was looking forward to. I do love history based movies, the UK, and lore from medieval times. This movie started out interestingly enough with a man’s grief following the Black Plague and how it killed half of England’s population (not sure if that is actaully true or not), but it then it spiraled into a mostly boring tale of rich vs. poor that was not very inspiring at all.

Last, I saw another classic 1982 movie, E.T. the extra terrestrial. I also saw this in a movie theater that was part of a mall when it was first released. It easily though has been a couple decades since I saw it though, and this would be the first time since 1982 I saw it on the big screen. I laughed, got all of the good feels, and loved this from beginning to end. I also forgot just how darn charming Drew Barrymore is.
