Minions Y Monstras

Minions react with fear and surprise surrounded by spooky monsters in a dark cave.
Not having children, I’ve never seen any of the Minion movies, so this newest release was certainly not on my radar to go see. But a few movie critics changed my mind, as all of them stated this one was much better than the minion movies that came before it. So I thought I would take a chance and go to a air conditioned theater early on the 4th of July Holiday to see what a Minions movie is all about.

What I did like (somewhat) is the storytelling that re-created Old Hollywood as our little Minions went on their adventures. I didn’t catch them all, but some of my favorites were : Citizen Kane, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Babylon, Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, The Blob and Jaws.

But what didn’t work for me is the dialogue/humor from the Minions themselves. I didn’t get it or, to be honest, understand most of it. I’m sure little humans would have enjoyed it more, but they wouldn’t get any of the Old Hollywood movie references. So in trying to entertain people of all ages, I felt that this movie probably won’t be for anybody. I had three other people in the theater with me ( a child with her parents) that walked out of the movie about 3/4 of the way through…..
So be warned. Will you (or have you already) see it?
