Racing the rain on the way to Lackawaxen Lake
Thunder crashes loudly overhead. The rain should start falling soon. HC looks up to the sky and quickens his pace along the trail. With a bit of luck, he should reach Lackawaxen Lake before the rain really starts to fall.

He hasn’t felt this fit for a few years. A few weeks of some consistent morning exercise and steady daily movement surprisingly has him feeling as strong as ever. No doubt that a lack of daily drinking is also a contributing factor to his good health. No one else is seen at the lake, only a red robin that sings a song before flying away once the rain starts to fall. HC sits on a flat rock under some tree branches, and just listens to the rain patter on the surface of the lake. No music or social media needed to entertain him. Mother Nature’s son.

Clouds are moving fast in the skies above. He remembers that this hike is on a timer, as the trailhead parking pass is only good for three hours, and he has just under one hour left before it expires. About two and a half miles to get back in time. He will need to do some trail running in the rain to make it in time. Just another opportunity to burn some fat, build muscle, and feel fit and in tune with the mountains.
