“Hey, you should drive up to St. George this weekend and we’ll go golfing.”

Best text I received last Spring. My brother’s family was driving down from Salt Lake City to St. George, Utah. My niece’s Cheer group that she helps coach had a tournament, and so while the girls did that, my brother, nephew and I did eighteen holes of golf at the Sand Hollow Resort.

My brother loves to golf. I’m not a fanatic, but certainly won’t pass up any opportunity to hit the links, besides, it was quality family time that I sorely needed.

I also love seeing my nephew get into the sport that his Dad loves.

The course was beautiful, with the Southern Utah desert as the backdrop at each hole. I sucked, per usual, but had a few good hits and a great time with the boys.

Which is really all that matters. I’ll drive six hours anytime to spend time with family over a weekend.

Wench, bring my ale, what say you?
