Silver Lake & Lake Solitude

I appreciate the mountains and clouds in the Sat Lake Valley much more so now that I am spending my summer up here. Over the past eleven years I’ve normally only spent an occasional weekend here in the summer, and then Thanksgiving and Christmas. Being from Arizona, it’s a pleasure to have a summer that you can actually enjoy outside. I’m taking full advantage.

I have seen so many pictures of Silver Lake over the recent years, but had never made it to the area myself. I wanted to change all that. Cbug didn’t have college courses one day last week, and was more than willing to tag along with me. The lake is at Brighton Ski resort, a place I have been snow skiing since I was a kid. Seeing Silver Lake in the summer though was pure magic. Moose in the marshes and deer on the mountainside, native trout being caught, and scenery that took my breath away. It is funny how quickly one forgets the area they grew up in.

The hike around Silver Lake is only a mile or so, half of it being a boardwalk and the rest a trail. However you can connect to many other trails from here. Not having done much hiking as of late, we decide to extend our hike by going a little further up the mountain to Lake Solitude. When we arrive we have the place to ourselves. Solitude indeed. I break out my little drone since we won’t be disturbing anyone except the squirrels. Enjoy our time on this amazing little hike in the Utah Wasatch mountains.
