As soon as I stepped outside of the car, the humidity sapped my strength like a giant blood sucking mosquito.

“I didn’t bring enough water…..”

Luckily, I find a little store just before the trailhead to Copper Falls, and get replenished with plenty of water before venturing out into the Wisconsin woodlands.

Copper Falls appropriately gets it’s name from the rich, dark minerals found in the soil here. When mixed with the churning water, the resulting effect is waterfalls that look to be pouring tasty root beer over the rocks as it makes it’s way downstream.

It’s a wonderful visual as I make my way up and over hillsides and through the greenery of one of my favorite parts of the midwest.
