Today is my last full day in Mexico City. It’s been a whirlwind of adventures, pinnacling to this moment. I climb into the van while it’s still dark outside, and off we go to Teotihuacan.
I arrive just as the sun is slowly starting to rise. I’m offered a cup of coffee, and as I take my first sip and look up into the sky, I see the first balloon slowly rising and crossing overhead.
A smile adorns my face and honestly it never leaves. I’ve always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon, and today I get to live out that dream.
I watch in silent splendor as other balloons are being prepped and filled. It is truly awe inspiring.
The heat emanating from the flame warms me, even though I’m at a safe distance. The balloon slowly fills, just like one learned in chemistry class, as the heat expands.
Soon, our basket is ready and we climb in. After a quick safety tutorial, we are ready to depart.
I’m like a giddy school girl as we depart to see the ancient place that the Gods created, from the skies above.
