So last night we’ll went to go see Garrison Keillor perform his Radio show ” a prairie home companion ” live up at Red butte. having listened to parts of his program before on NPR, and hearing my sis-in-law rave about this show, garrison, and the beauty of NPR in general, i was excited. I also loved the movie that came out a couple of years ago. We got out our blankets, pillows, and low back concert/football chairs, and set in for a great night of storytelling, bad (but hiliarious) jokes, great music, and just good ole family fun!
Mom and Dad right after garrison sang his classic ‘Sperm song’. I’m pretty Mom didn’t know what to think, but Dad was secretly smiling afterward, trying to hold in his laugh….
Garrison and his main man, Fred Neuman, who did all kinds of radio sounds (i.e. dogs barking, climbing creaky stairs, periscope raising on a submarine, etc….)
At intermission, Garrison made a comment about how in this day and age people are more into networking, computers, etc.. and most don’t even know their next door neighbor (so true) so he came right out into the audience, invited all of us to stand and just sing songs with him. I know that it sounds corny, but it was probably my favorite part of the night. The energy and symmergy felt by having all of us come together was something else. The two vid’s below are short clips of this experience. First one is everyone singing God Bless America and even jared was singing….the second one that i captured was a rendition of the Beatles classic, i wanna hold your hand…
Just wanted to let everyone know that if you have the chance, do not miss this show. And once again a big shout out to all of Trudi’s friends for the Red Butte Garden’s season passes! Without these, we never would have went. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
