I dreamed about weather beaten picket fences half buried in white sand. This image, more than anything else, is what drove my curiosity to come and explore the Cape Cod area.
What surprised me though is how wild and open this place is, especially for being in the populated East Coast of the USA. Hardly any people could be seen for it being the week before Memorial Day. Perhaps this was due to the Pandemic, but I like to think that this place is always empty and free of the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Deer in the open fields and along the highway, a wild fox scavenges the beach for eggs in bird nests, sea lions ride the ocean waves, and occasionally one would see the water spout from a great whale on the horizon.
I walk endless boardwalks and squish my toes in the warm sand. I abide the warning signs of Great White Sharks in the area, and let the salty air fill my nostrils.
