Through the California countryside of rolling hills we travel, about twenty five miles south of San Francisco. Our destination is the Filoli property, a name I’ve not heard of before today. A clearing through the grove of olive trees leads us onward.

I’ve never been obsessed with riches or fame, fancy cars or big houses. What does interest me though is how people with such good fortune conduct themselves.

Are they self-serving, or do they have more of a philanthropic heart?

The family that owned this property was definitely of the mind set of giving back to the community, and the world at large. Nothing makes this more apparent than the meaning behind the unusual name….

Fight for a just cause. Love your fellow man. Live a good life.

If you find yourself in the area, I can’t recommend highly enough a day visit to the Filoli property. I promise you it will be time well spent, an inspiring and beautiful day that showcases the best of the human spirit.
