This was my favourite lyric of a night full of awesomeness at the Willie Nelson
concert. Em’s has been wishing that we got tickets to this show all summer long. Her and Jared have been working so hard that I wanted to do something nice, and surprised them with tickets. Admittedly, I wasn’t a big fan before the show, but the concert changed all that. Willie is Americana music personified, as the last living member of a trifecta including Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, I felt like I was seeing a part of music history.
Em’s and I arrived super early to get a sweet spot in line. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day, with clear blue skies and temps in the 60’s. We even met NBA legend Mark Eaton!
As we settled in on the lawn, enjoying cold drinks, tortilla wraps, and key lime pie, the opening act played. I’d never heard of Chuck Mead before, but give it a listen.
Twangy, country goodness right there, eh?
As the sun set over the valley, Willie came onstage. He has such great stage presence, and I was in awe at how he played non stop for someone his age. Enjoy the greatness that is Willie Nelson.
and a little more….
Although I am still disappointed that I missed music legends Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan this summer, this show makes that pain a little easier to bear.
