Into the Needles & the Slickrock trail

Day three exploring Canyonlands National Park. Four a.m. finds me on the road to a much more remote section of the Park, The Needles. I get there before the sun rises, and so I pull off the road and watch a crow that is watching me while waiting for the landscape to lighten.

Once it does, I head out onto the Slickrock trail. Lonely and cold I was, casting long shadows out onto the desert landscape. The morning light was creating a moody atmosphere, one that I was thoroughly enjoying by myself.

It was invigorating.
