It’s a blue bird Sunday morning in Oregon, majestic Mount Hood is watching over all that make their way into the forest. I weave my way along the dirt roads looking for the trailhead that will eventually take me to Ramona Falls.

The water runoff from the mighty mountain has transformed the landscape around me, washing out the bridge to the trail completely. Only scattered logs remain as the sole source of crossing.
Many are disheartened and do not attempt to cross, but that is not in the cards for me, at least not today. A strong will and a bit of free-spirited craziness help me navigate the treachery. I spend a fair amount of time trying to re-connect to the trail on the other side.

Through the thicket of trees I see the mighty Ramona Falls, though I hear the cascading water first. Once in full view, I weep from the awe inspiring beauty.

A 7.1 mile loop that has its fair share of danger and an abundance of adventure, you should try the Ramona Falls hike, if you dare.
