I chose to have the Red Cliffs Lodge as my base camp while exploring Canyonlands National Park. The lodge is about 15 miles from Moab up the colorado river. Quiet and secluded, especially with the pandemic still hanging around.

Near empty, it allowed me to set up time lapse cameras all over the place, capturing the beauty of Southern Utah in the best way possible.

I would come back here each evening, sip Christmas whiskey (a gift from a co-worker) and watch snow storms roll in over the sandstone mountains. A fire would slowly burn, the crackle of wood soothing my soul.

My final evening here ended in a blizzard. Several inches of new snow blanketed the landscape. I slowly put the truck into four wheel drive and eventually make it out of Red Cliffs, starting the long drive back home.

Wench, bring my ale, what say you?
