The conservation effort to protect our oceans, and those that live in them, is abundantly clear here at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. As someone that despises caged animals, zoos, etc….this sanctuary is a welcome sight, not to mention the chance you have to see creatures from the ocean world below.

Built on a sardine cannery of old, the aquarium itself is a building of fascinating history in it’s structure.

This time around, I brush my fingers along the backs of sting rays, watch sea birds feed their young, and find the smallest and most exquisite of animals.

I am captivated in the plant life of the ocean garden. I wonder what medicinal cures are to be found here…..

From curious turtles to monstrous fish, I spend time with them all. I glance up and see a smiling face reflecting back from the aquarium glass, and realize just how happy I am in this moment.

Wench, bring my ale, what say you?
