So this last week I was in AZ again (as usual) and was leaving the Mexican border town of Douglas, heading towards the White Mountains of Show low. This is usually about a 3 1/2 hour trip. i wanted to find a shortcut to I-10, and without any maps or GPS, decided to head east on I-80 to see where it would lead. Driving along the US/Mexico border, seeing many snakes, foxes, and beautiful birds of prey but no road to take me north, I began to think I made a mistake. When i came to the New Mexico state line, i knew that I’d definitely taken the road less traveled, but found a little dirt road which led to a mystical place called Coronado National Forest. This place was so beautiful…

This was at the top of the mountain range, Such a great diversity of flora. Southwest cacti at the ground level, leading to great aspens, then up to Ponderosa Pines, all surrounded by immense rock formations.

Then back down the moutain to the great expanse of the Southern Arizona desert landscape. Total trip added about 3 extra hours travel time, but completely worth it.

Wench, bring my ale, what say you?
