A wide view of a desert landscape under a clear blue sky with scattered clouds, featuring rocky terrain and distant mountains.

So last Tuesday I make the long ten hour drive from Phoenix to Salt Lake City. It’s a drive I’ve done numerous times, usually over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. This one just felt different. No stress about getting their quickly, or hating the short time before I have to turn around to come back for work. I soaked in the scenery with new eyes, took in the majestic views and wildlife, and said goodbye to 114 degrees of heat and crazy monsoon and dust storms.

I get welcomed back to Utah by my best friend, little Keeley the family dog, and settle into their spare room. Let my first summer under retirement begin….

Wench, bring my ale, what say you?
