After hours of driving through the forested roads of Wisconsin, I arrive in the little community of Hayward.

Home of the World Lumberjack Championships since 1960. Hayward used to be a giant holding pond for logs of the Weyerhaeuser North Wisconsin Lumber Company, and now the people of this town rich in lumber history proudly host this annual event.

I couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of it.
The natural beauty of the area was only surpassed by the lovely people. It was pure Americana if ever there is such a place.

“Where beer and faith go hand in hand”.

The strength and skill of both the men and women will surprise and amaze you.
From the log rolling, speed climbing, the springboard and the under hand chop, I was entertained as well and informed about the tradition of generations of families that have made their livelihood out of lumber jacking.

And please understand that the competitions are fierce, these people are true athletes in every respect with what they do.

I could ramble on and on, but perhaps you would rather see highlights for yourself.

Enjoy the 2017 World Lumberjack championships in all of it’s glory.

Yo Ho!!!

Wench, bring my ale, what say you?
