Tibetan monks & the opening Mandala ceremony

Mandala :
* a geometric figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism.
* a symbol in a dream, representing the dreamer’s search for completeness and self-unity.
When I heard that Tibetan monks would be in Santa Fe the weekend I was there for their opening ceremony of a mandala construction, I was completely ignorant of what this entailed.
I only knew I wanted to witness something new.
What I gained though was a peace previously unknown to me.
An old building containing some of the most ancient and beautiful artifacts from the Middle East I’d ever laid eyes upon was the temporary home for these traveling monks to complete their week long mandala.
I was their for the opening ceremony only, but it was something I’ll never forget, and look forward to learning more and being a part of entire process in the future.
I came away with my own meditation bowl, which I now use routinely each morning and evening. As it sings to me, I am taken back to the day of the throat singing I heard, the calm I felt, the peace throughout the room.

Wench, bring my ale, what say you?
